We recently hosted a celebration and fundraising event in downtown Denver. Many of you attended and were able to see and meet Guyia, Mike, and Danny. For those of you who missed it, we invite you to watch this video.
Guyia, Mike, and Danny boldly share the narratives they once lived from before believing in and discovering a new one. It is evident that our core narrative shapes so many aspects of our lives.
Dry Bones’ aim is to learn to live from and then inspire belief in a life-giving, redeeming, and beautiful new narrative.
After you watch this video, we invite you to consider these questions:
What is your definition of a “hard life?”
What did life look like for you when you were 14 or 15 years old? What were your life-concerns? What were you most interested in at 15?
What is your core narrative? What story about yourself, the world, others, God, and more do you live from?
What difficult choices have you made in life when you were in the midst of financial struggle?
What family members do you get along with best? What members of your family do you clash with?
How do you find peace when others cause you anger?
Do you carry anything for “protection” in your day to day life? Figuratively, what weapons do you hold and hide?
What is the coldest you have ever been?
Have you ever feared sleep? When?
Has “home” always been an option for you?
What do others see and think when they look at you?
What do you see and think when you look at yourself in the mirror?
Where did you get your identity of who you are?
In what ways do you let your past define your future?
What stereotypes do you fit? Which ones do you wish you did not fit?
How can we learn to see “more than meets the eye?” What positive initial judgements can we pass on others instead of negative judgements?
